The report evaluated 10 vendors based on 24 criteria evaluating their current offering, strategy, and market presence. Centrify’s identity-centric Privileged Identity Management (PIM) solutions received the highest possible score in seven of the 24 evaluation criteria and was the only vendor to receive the highest score possible (5.00) in the “Least privilege access control” criterion, which includes three evaluation criteria. The company also received the highest possible score (5.00) in the Innovation Roadmap strategy criterion, as well as in the SaaS/cloud current offering criterion. The Centrify vendor profile in the report summarizes, “Centrify leverages SaaS, shifts focus to DevOps and cloud PIM.”

“The newly launched delegated machine credentials step up Centrify’s DevOps game,” the Centrify vendor profile continues, referencing the company's approach to seamlessly incorporate Privileged Access Management into the DevOps pipeline. “Organizations that want a SaaS-based vendor with granular endpoint access management controls across Windows and *nix environments and strong AD bridging should buy Centrify.”

The Forrester Wave™ report identifies the top solution providers in the PIM market, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor. Centrify received the highest possible score in seven criteria including Least privilege access control, Session monitoring and recording, SaaS/cloud, Innovation Roadmap, and PIM installed base.

“Our recent research shows enterprises have accelerated their cloud migration plans as a result of the pandemic, in alignment with trajectories that have been leaning towards hybrid- and multi-cloud models in recent years,” said Flint Brenton, president, and CEO of Centrify. “We believe that Centrify’s recognition as a leader in the 2020 Forrester Wave for PIM shows that we are not only meeting these current business needs, but we are providing modern solutions for the future that authenticate and enforce least privilege for both human and machine identities.”

This year’s global response to the pandemic resulted in a rapid shift to remote work and an increased reliance on cloud-based workloads, which exposed enterprises to a larger threatscape that required a modern approach to protecting privileged access in the cloud. Centrify delivers cloud-ready PIM solutions to secure access to infrastructure through modern use cases such as cloud, Big Data, DevOps, and containers, while also supporting data center infrastructure, databases, and network services.

Centrify’s identity-centric PIM solutions are based on Zero Trust principles to establish trust and grant least privilege access just in time, based on verifying who is requesting access, the context of the request, and the risk of the access environment. Centrify customers are empowered to evolve from relying on shared passwords to instead leverage a cloud-ready solution able to handle requests from humans, machines, and services with dynamic, risk-aware controls to interoperate with a broader ecosystem that includes Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) providers, DevOps tools and container solutions.
